• The Homeless Lady
    of Riverdale, Georgia

  • Good Evening Everyone, All elected and appointed officials, Council Members, Mayor and Mrs. Knot Our Chief of Police

My name is Sharon Owens, I am the one that stood out there everyday and called for the Candle light Vigil.
I also, made the 911- call as the chase for the suspect began.

I am here today on the behalf of Janice Cunningham, She of course is our cause for being here this evening.

As most of you know that Janice was our "Homeless Lady of Riverdale, GA". Her home was all up and down Hwy.-85 for 12 and a half years. Her final stop ended on Jan. 2, 2005, her Vigil was Jan. 7, 2005 and her Homegoing was Jan. 10, 2005.

Today Jan. 24, 2005 is Commendations for Riverdale Citizens.

Janice had a long journey, we tried to help her during the course of her homeless life. I hate to say it, but we didn't get it right, not just yet!

I've explained to the New media and many others, her death will not "Be A Silent Death."
That is why we are moving forward to make sure nothing like this happens again in our Community.
Since the apprehension of the Suspect, We feel a bit more safer and I am truly grateful for everyone in the Community who came together like links in a big chain, pulling in the same direction.

I believe now, Janice will speak a thousand times louder as her story is being told and hopefully someday it will become a vital documentary that I'm now working on.
God Bless Janice and the Homeless Project she had left Our Community.
